I’ve been meaning to visit the Tower of London for weeks to visit this outstanding sight.
With Remembrance Day fast approaching, and of course, 2014 marking the centenary of the First World War, The Tower of London is staging an installation where the area which you could call the moat that surrounds the tower is being filled with ceramic poppies.
888,246 ceramic poppies will progressively fill the Tower’s famous moat over the summer. Each poppy represents a British military fatality during the war, The poppies will encircle the iconic landmark, creating not only a spectacular display visible from all around the Tower but also a location for personal reflection. The scale of the installation intends to reflect the magnitude of such an important centenary creating a powerful visual commemoration.
It is truly a sight to behold. I’d recommend anyone who is in the capital to pay it a visit. You can find more pictures on my Flickr Gallery
